Celebrating Northern New Jersey Singer/Songwriters

The stage is set for the next Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme live performance! Credits: Clark Paddock

In its sixth season, The Riverside Rhythm & Rhyme Live Performance Series presents a monthly Open-Mic night and Feature Performance Concert showcasing local and regional “indie” (independent) singer/songwriters in a family-friendly environment.

Held in a quaint church with loads of character, the charming venue offers an intimate setting with great acoustics enjoyed by both performers and audiences alike.

Hosts Renee and Clark Paddock of Mountain Ledge Music, Ledgewood, NJ, welcome acoustic musicians to the Open-Mic which highlights an hour of local songwriters and spoken-word artists. All skill levels and genres are welcome to perform a piece or two of their own creation - no covers please - before a supportive and appreciative audience.

Refreshments are available for a small fee during a brief intermission. Following, a touring/recording artist takes the stage to perform a full set of original music.

"The RRR event is funded solely through attendee donations," stated Renee Paddock, "We hope that those who come for the open-mic, either to perform or as part of a fan base, will stay for the feature performance to support other local and regional artists and strengthen the local songwriter community."

The RRR Performance Series is held at the Skylands Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1811 New Jersey 57, Hackettstown, NJ from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm every 2nd Saturday of the month, running from September through May. Admission is by donation at the door ($10/person suggested, children 12 and under free).  Doors open for open-mic signups at 6:30 with those performances going from 7-8 pm, with the featured performance running from around 8:15- 9:30 pm.

FEATURED ARTIST - The Back Door Band

The Back Door Band is a stylistically diverse acoustic group featuring Jeanne Yarrow, James Popik, Mark Stewart & Paul Otis. A few years ago, Jeanne and Paul joined their talents, singing R&B, rock and country in small clubs. Jeanne later collaborated with Jim and Mark in an opening act performance at Puck in Doylestown.  The trio invited Paul to join them for a casual jam session just for the fun of it.  Shortly afterwards, The Back Door Band was formed, an easy going, acoustic mix of guitars, fiddle and mandolin.

Saturday - December 12, 2015

Chasing June is the indie folk collaboration of singers and songwriters, Judy Aron and Steve Coleman.  Their co-written, harmony-filled songs, and spirited up tempo live performances, have been earning the duo spots on radio and in venues throughout the northeast region since 2010.
