ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School boys lacrosse team is asking residents to donate money that wil help it pay for a number of necessities, including a team storage shed, indoor practice fees and - thinking positively - championship banners.
The team has raised about $600 so far but hope to reach $6,000 with the online fundraiser that will last for about a month.
"Your support will help us offer a higher quality experience for all our athletes," wrote Roxbury High School boys lacrosse coach Chris Blough. "Your donation is greatly appreciated and you will be getting a receipt for your gift."
Blough is asking supporters to "spread the word" about the fundraiser - on Facebook and Twitter. "Our young men have been working hard to properly represent this great school and community," he said. "Any support is greatly appreciated."
In addition to helping pay for indoor practice fees, championship banners and the storage shed, donations will go toward new trophy case plaques, and end-of-the-year team banquet and a team lacrosse wall.
The team had a great season last year, ending with a 19-4 record and nearly winning a state championship.
