Credits: Joseph Gonnella

RANDOLPH, NJ  – In collaboration with County College of Morris (CCM), the Patriots’ Path Council Boy Scouts of America hosted its second STEM University for Boy Scouts from across northern and central New Jersey.

The Scouts participated in a day of science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related activities on the CCM campus in Randolph, on Saturday Nov. 4.  The event was made possible by the support and continued partnership of both organizations.

“I learned that STEM is relevant in the world, we had so much fun,” said James Bermeo, a Scout from Long Valley.  “I give STEM University at CCM a 10 out of 10 experience and I will definitely come again.”

CCM faculty and students, along with Scouting volunteers from the council STEM committee, provided a variety of workshops, lectures and hands-on activities focusing on astronomy, chemistry labs, advanced manufacturing, cyber security, and computer science.  Lunch was accompanied by a special panel discussion on the importance of diversity in STEM, moderated by CCM’s Women in STEM Club.

Scouts who attended worked on requirements for various STEM Nova awards and merit badges.
