RANDOLPH, NJ – The danger of walking or bicycling on roads after snowstorms - when shoulders and sidewalks remain covered -- was illustrated recently by an incident in Randolph where a Succasunna man on a bicycle was hit by a passing snowplow.

Randolph police said a 32-year-old Succasunna man was bicycling on Route 10 East when he was clipped by a plow attached to a passing pickup truck. Police would not identify the bicyclist, who was taken to St. Clare’s Hospital with injuries.

They said the accident happened at 6:42 a.m. on Jan. 24, the morning after the recent blizzard.

The driver of the Ford F350, David Licht of Morris Plains, was not plowing the highway, said police. They said they issued Licht a summons for careless driving.
