ROXBURY, NJ — The organizers of the upcoming “Gaels Going Green Sustainability Expo” at Roxbury High School are seeking exhibitors for the event.

The Nov. 3 Expo - the first of what the school district hopes to be an annual event - “will be a day of celebrating all things sustainable in and around Roxbury with vendors, interactive workshops, demonstrations, etc.,” said the district.

It said the 3-hour-long event, starting at 9 a.m., will include “information booths, classes, demonstrations, health checks, physical activities and hands-on experiences and interactions for all ages.”

In seeking exhibitors at the Expo, the district said the event could be a great place for businesses in related fields to display their expertise and possibly find customers.

“Looking for a chance to expose your amazing sustainable business and brand?” asked the district. “Want to introduce a particular new fitness or health-related product or service? Want to introduce a particular green product or service? Want to share a healthy food option? Or do you simply want to share your expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm to educate the community on various sustainability topics (health, wellness, fitness, healthy and/or green living, etc.)?”

Exhibitors interested in participating can register at www.roxbury.org/GreenGaelsExhibitor.

The over-riding goal of the Expo will be “how to live a more sustainable and healthy life,” according to the school district. It said the event will be partially funded by a grant from the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Grants Program and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). The Roxbury district was one of 11 awarded a $10,000 grant in February 2019 for its Expo proposal.

“The district will host a tasting and composting session using aeroponic gardens and composters from five of the seven schools that were purchased using the grant funding,” it said. “Leading up this expo, students and staff will learn about gardening, healthy nutritional habits, and composting. Items grown and information learned will be turn-keyed to the public as we Gear Gaels to Go Green.”
