ROXBURY, NJ – The music wafting across Horseshoe Lake Park on Sunday was festive. The laughter of kids was uplifting. Karen Lunadoni surely would have approved.

The happy sounds came from the “Carry on Karen’s Kindness Walk/Run,” an event held in honor of Lunardoni, the much loved former Jefferson Elementary School principal who died last year due to an inoperable brain tumor.

Nearly 300 people attended and more than $8,000 was raised, said participant Steve Guberman, who said it was a “fantastic” day. The money, surpassing the $5,000 goal set by the event’s organizer, Jefferson School teacher Dana Taggart - who is Guberman's sister - will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society.

"Donations are still trickling in," said Guberman.
