ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School boys lacrosse team on Tuesday beat its rivals from Randolph and, for the fourth consecutive year, came home with the Gael/Rams Cup.
It was a tougher battle than last year for Roxbury, when the Gaels defeated the Rams by a score of 16-7. This time around, the score was 6-5 by the time the game ended.
Randolph took an early lead, going into the second period up 1-0. But the Gaels would have none of that, scoring three goals in the second frame and three more in the third. Going into the final quarter, the Gaels were leading 6-3, but Randolph made it interesting by preventing any more Roxbury goals and scoring two.
In the win, Roxbury's Matt Dancsecs scored four goals and Connor Mahoney found the back of the net twice. Goalie Brandon Maresca made 10 saves.
The win brings Roxbury's record to 8-3. The Gaels next play Madison on Thursday.
