CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ - The Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council Scouts have begun their fundraising season with the always expected and delicious popcorn sale.
Across Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties you will find Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing Crews selling popcorn in storefronts, festivals, parades, car shows and different community events to fundraise for their Scouting year.
“Popcorn is an essential part of the Scouting experience” says Joe Allegra, Executive Board member for Patriots’ Path Council. “It doesn't only give our youth the financial support to go on their Scouting adventures, but also gives them valuable skills like money management, sales techniques, how to approach and speak to people they are no acquainted with, self-esteem and confidence. These skills will be with them for the rest of their lives. Scouts do not sell popcorn, they are asking YOU to support their Scouting program”.
Charlie S. is a Scout in Parsippany that thanks to his popcorn sale was able to earn a free week at summer camp and participate in an amazing skill building Scouting summer program. “Because my brothers and I sold popcorn, we earned a free week at camp.” said Charlie. “But the best is that I went to Specialty Week at camp and did the backwoods engineering program where we learned about engineering, building, Scout skills, science and math. We got to build a catapult!”
Charlie is a very enthusiastic Scout who will participate next year in the Aquatics summer program. We are sure he will beat his goal and earn another free week at camp.
There are many other Scouting adventure stories that are supported by the Scouts Popcorn sale, so if you see a Scout out there, support his adventure and support him by purchasing a can or box of popcorn. There are different sizes, packages and tin designs with prices ranging from $12 to $45.
If you would like to support the Boy Scouts of America with their popcorn sale, but don’t know how, go to www.popcornordering.com and choose Patriots’ Path Council from the dropdown box. Your contribution to Scouting is needed and always appreciated.
