ROXBURY, NJ - New Jersey American Water (NJAW) plans to begin next week installing a new water main on a street in Succasunna, a project that will cost about $140,000, said the company.

The new, 8-inch-diameter, ductile iron pipe will run about 475 feet along Sunset Lane from Oak Hill Drive to about the seventh house on the street, said NJAW. It said the project also includes installing one new utility-owned service line along the pipeline route.

“New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, Vollers Excavating & Construction, Inc., will begin work the week of Dec. 2 and expects to finish in two and a half weeks, weather permitting,” said NJAW in a press release.

It said the Vollers crew will work from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. “Work outside of these hours is not anticipated unless required to maintain project schedule,” said NJAW. “Final street restorations will be completed in the spring of 2020.”

Sunset Lane residents who want public water service should call NJAW’s Customer Service Center at 800-272-1325.

“For the public’s and workers’ safety, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours,” NJAW noted. “All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.”
