ROXBURY, NJ - If you start dieting now, you'll have about six days of calorie deprivation under your belt by May 21. Then you can throw caution to the wind at the 12th Annual Taste of Roxbury.

There, in the Roxbury High School cafeteria, you will find some of the best food that area restaurants have to offer. And you can feel good about digging into their creations because the event is a fundraiser for the Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization that - among other things - provides scholarships and sponsors local events.

So far, 22 restaurants have signed-up to attend this year's Taste of Roxbury, according to the chamber. There will be a good variety of foods to enjoy and there will be a number of restaurants participating for the first time including American Heroes Smokehouse, Bagels on the Hill, Dalcourt's Desserts, Schwinds Marketplace & Smokehouse, Davy's Hot Dogs, Outback Steakhouse, Legends Ale House, Leggo My Bagel, Kilhaney's Pickles, Iron Hills Tavern and Loving Hut.

The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. They are available online at, at the Roxbury Recreation Department at Horseshoe Lake, 72 Eyland Ave in Succasunna and at Fulton Bank at 274 Route 10 west in Succasunna. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

"Attendees will have the opportunity to taste food from a wide variety of restaurants from the Roxbury area for only a fraction of what a night out would normally cost," said the chamber. "Take advantage of this great opportunity to have a night out, taste and enjoy unlimited portions of delicious food, learn about local restaurants and socialize with people from your area, all while helping to support your community. This is simply the best way to taste foods from restaurants you haven’t been to and see what they have to offer, plus taste some dishes from your favorite places."

The restaurants "will have the opportunity to share with you their coupons, discounts, door prizes and giveaways," noted the chamber, adding that people who attend "can support local students by purchasing refreshments at their table."
