ROXBURY, NJ — Police are investigating the Tuesday death of a Roxbury man who fell into Lake Hopatcong.

Roxbury Police Department Spokeswoman Jennifer Dillard said the department received a call at 5:53 p.m. about the incident. The caller reported "a male in the water" in the area of King's Road in Landing, she said.

"A preliminary investigation revealed an 82-year-old Roxbury resident fell off a dock into the water," Dillard said. She cautioned against referring to the incident as a drowning, noting the cause of the man's death remains under investigation.
