ROXBURY, NJ — The 11U Roxbury Youth Baseball Team is headed to the state tournament in Wayne this week having recently won its third district championship in four years.

Playing in Mount Olive on July 28, the 5-0 Roxbury team defeated 4-1 Mount Olive to take the Cal Ripken Northern N.J. District Championship. Roxbury dominated the contest, ending with a no-hitter, 2-0 victory. 

The team was led by players Colin Donnelly, Brady Capko, Anthony Rizzo, Danny DiCarlo, Henry Smith, Jimmy Murphy, Anthony Palombit, Michael Paxos, Christos Paxos, Luca Argenziano and Frankie Falco. During the tournament Roxbury pitchers threw three no-hitters: Two by Donnelly and one by Argenziano.

The team is coached by Alphonse Falco, Chris Argenziano, Mike Paxos, John Paxos, Gerry Capko, Rich Ronchetta and Coach "Pop" Falco.

The team and coaches played in honor of the late Coach Steve Sanabria, a leader, mentor and great coach.
