ROXBURY, NJ – In an upset, the 5th seeded Roxbury High School baseball team got knocked out of the Morris County Tournament in the first round on Saturday as it fell to 12th seed Morris Hills.
During the game, which Morris Hills won 3-2, neither team scored until the fourth inning, when the Scarlet Knights put two runs on the scoreboard. Morris Hills added its third run in the next inning, when the Gaels came through with the first of their two runs.
Roxbury’s second run came in the sixth but neither team scored in the last inning, leaving the Scarlet Knights to move on in the tournament. Last year, the Gaels made it to the tournament semifinal, where they lost to Randolph.
During Saturday’s game, Roxbury’s Andy Axelson hit two doubles. Roxbury is now 10-5. The team plays Tuesday in an away game against Delbarton.
