Roxbury Baseball Wins Season Opener

WASHINGTON TWP., NJ – The Roxbury High School baseball team won its season opener on Monday in a slim victory over West Morris Central.

The Gaels beat the Wolfpack 8-6 despite slipping way behind in the third inning, when West Morris racked up five runs while Roxbury remained scoreless.

But Roxbury fought back hard, scoring three runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth while keeping West Morris stuck at five runs. The Wolfpack scored a sixth run in the sixth inning, making the score 6-4 in their favor going into the final inning.

It was then that Roxbury closed the deal, scoring four runs while keeping West Morris scoreless. During the game, Roxbury players made nine hits and West Morris chalked up 11.

Roxbury next plays Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a game at Morris Knolls.
