ROXBURY, NJ – The Roxbury High School boys baseball team beat Morris Knolls on Wednesday in a home opener that wasn’t supposed to be a home opener.
The home opener was scheduled for Friday, but Morris Knolls’ field condition prompted the teams to move the contest to Succasunna. The Gaels, with runs in the first, third and sixth inning, defeated the Golden Eagles 5-3.
Having scored no runs during the first five innings, Morris Knolls made the game interesting by getting three in the sixth, when Roxbury scored one. Neither team scored in the final inning.
The Gaels recorded seven hits to the Golden Eagles’ six.
Roxbury next plays Friday, again at home, against Bayonne. The team is now 2-0 having won its season opener on Monday.
