JEFFERSON, NJ – Jefferson High School’s boys lacrosse team is no longer undefeated, and you can thank the Gaels of Roxbury for that.
The Falcons did not stand a chance during today's game as the Gaels scored early and often, with the first quarter ending 7-0. Even long-pole defenseman Justin Werder and Aaron Loschiavo scored for Roxbury.
Goalie Wayne Safreed kept Jefferson scoreless again in the second quarter while the Gaels offense put four more goals on the board, ending the half 11-0.
The third quarter started off with the Gaels quickly bringing the score to 12-0. At that point the starters came off the field and a running clock started. But Roxbury still added two more goals while allowing Jefferson two in the final frame.
The 14-2 win brought the Gaels’ record to 5-4. They face Lenape Valley on Friday at a 4:30 p.m. away game.
In today’s win, Dave Biank made three goals and two assists, Matt Dansces made three goals and one assist, Paul Shadel made two goals and one assist, Grant Dixon made one goal and two assists, Anthony Perhacs made one goal and two assists. Long-pole defenseman Justin Werder and Aaron Loschiavo each had a goal while Conner Mahoney and Chris Dacey each added one as well.
Goalie Wayne Safreed made five saves and goalie Brandon Maresca made three.
