ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - It took four quarters for the Roxbury boys lacrosse team to put away Morris Knolls in a nail-biter of a league game today, but the Gaels prevailed. The 9-6 victory extended their unprecedented win streak to nine consecutive games.

The Golden Eagles scored first but Roxbury (9-1) then went on a scoring spree, racking up three goals in the first period and two in the second. But Morris Knolls didn’t fall far behind and the first half came to a close with a 6-5 score in favor of the Gaels.

The excitement continued in the third quarter with both teams only having two possessions. In the last possession of the quarter, Morris Knolls (6-3) managed to tie the score at 6-6.

The drama didn’t end there; In the fourth quarter, a referee took away a Roxbury goal because the clock failed to start.

That didn’t deter the Gaels. Roxbury immediately scored and then put away the game permanently with two breakaways. The Gaels then ran down the remaining minutes by playing keep-away.

During the game, Chris Snow had four goals and one assist, Dave Blank scored two goals, Anthony Perhacs had one goal and one assist, Matt Fiebel had one goal and Will Doran had one goal.

Paul Shadel contributed with three assists and Aaron Loschiavo had an assist. Goalkeeper Colin Armstrong made four saves and goalkeeper Luke Rowe made eight.

Roxbury’s next matchup is Wednesday, April 22, at Sparta.
