ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School boys lacrosse team suffered a 7-5 loss today to West Essex in a game dominated by West Essex for three quarters.
The Gaels, now at 3-2, had a difficult time clearing the ball most of the game. West Essex led 2-0 after the first quarter, 4-1 after the second and 6-3 after the third.
It was not until the fourth quarter that Roxbury turned up the energy. Once it did, the team was able to clear the ball, giving the offense opportunities to score two goals to West Essex’s one.
Unfortunately the late surge was not enough for a win.
During the game, Matt Danscecs and Eric D’Arminio had two goals, Paul Shadel made one goal and Grant Dixon made one assist. Goaltender Wayne Safreed made 15 saves.
The Gaels next play Thursday against Parsippany at 4 p.m. in an away matchup.
