POMPTON PLAINS, NJ - The Roxbury Boys Lacrosse team played the first half of its game today as if it was going to rack up its fourth win of the season. The Gaels went into the third frame against Pequannock with a 6-3 lead.

But the Panthers weren’t going to have any part of that. They came back in the third quarter with three goals, tying the game at 6 apiece as Roxbury scored none.

Roxbury scored first in the fourth to go up by one goal. However, each time Roxbury scored so did Pequannock, and by the time the clock ran out the Panthers had racked up one more point than the Gaels.

In fact, Pequannock’s game-winning goal came with only a couple of minutes remaining, and the Panthers’ defense held fast, preventing Roxbury from a final comeback. The 9-8 loss puts Roxbury’s record at 3-3 as the team heads to its next game, Saturday against North Warren.

Game Stats: Eric D'Arminio: four goals and one assist; Dave Biank: two goals and one assist; Grant Dixon: one goal; Matt Danscecs: one goal. Goalie Brandon Maresca, in his first varsity lacrosse game, had 12 saves on the day.
