ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury boys lacrosse team today kept an unfortunate record intact: It's never won a first-round game in the Morris County Tournament.
The Gaels were routed 13-4 by Randolph. The only time Roxbury had the lead was after it scored its first goal in minute one and held Randolph off until 4:20 of the first quarter. After that it was all Randolph.
Roxbury didn't score another goal till the fourth quarter. The crowd, enduring a steady, light rain during the afternoon matchup, was finally able to get excited about something. Instead of screaming for defense, the Gaels fans started urging shots.
On cue, the offense scored three quick goals. However, the fun for Roxbury ended there as Randolph returned fire with three goals of its own.
During the game, each of the following Gaels had one goal: Eric D'Arminio, Dave Biank, Paul Shadel and Matt Danscecs.
The loss brought Roxbury's record to 9-5. Its next game is at Mendham on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
