ROXBURY, NJ - Civil engineer Nick Wunner was named the 2018 Earl J. Chrystal Memorial Business Person of the Year on Wednesday by The Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce.
Wunner, who owns Wunner Engineering Associates, of Succasunna, currently serves as the Chamber's president. He was chosen by the Chamber's board of directors.
"We've had quite a few folks who have received this award for helping our community and for doing things not only for Roxbury but also for their individual businesses," said veteran Chamber member and former Chamber President Bruce Bristol in announcing Wunner's selection. "We like to honor our members as they pursue their businesses."
Wunner, who established Wunner Engineering 39 years ago, was also chosen to serve again next year as the Chamber's president.
"He liked it so much that he said, 'I'll do it one more year,'" Bristol commented. "We try to get our folks who have served as president to serve for a 2-year term ... he's willing to do that for a second time. It's a lot of time and effort and we really do appreciate that."
It was noted at the meeting that about $700 was raised at the Chamber's "Santa Land" event during the recent Home for the Holidays street festival in Succasunna. About 250 children got their photos taken with Santa inside the Roxbury Public Library during the popular event. The money was donated to Roxbury Social Services.
