ROXBURY, NJ - An affirmative vote by the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) athletic directors on Thursday put Roxbury High School's football program one more vote away from joining a proposed 115-team North Jersey "Super" Football Conference.

The NJAC athletic directors voted 28-10 to join the new conference for 2016 and 2017, according to sources. To make the switch a reality, the NJAC Board of Governors must vote to amend its constitution to allow the move at its Sept. 16 meeting

If the board votes against the amendment, the NJAC would not join the "Super" conference which would merge the Big North, the Super Essex and the Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic League.

The proposal is geared toward competitive balance. According to reports, Roxbury would be part of the "Freedom Division A" along with West Morris, Randolph, Mendham, Morristown, Morris Knolls and Mt. Olive.
