ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School field hockey team got the season off to a great start Thursday with a shut-out victory.

Playing at home in Succasunna, the Gaels defeated Pope John by a score of 5-0. Roxbury racked up four of its goals in the first half.

Taylor Woolford was the big scorer for Roxbury, finding the back of the net four times. Emily Stanich scored the other goal while Shannon Brady chalked up two assists and Halle Meloskie had one.

The Gaels next play Saturday against Morris Hills at home at 10:30 a.m.
