ROCKAWAY, NJ – Emma Karnitsky and Emily Koepfler both scored four goals May 6 when the Roxbury High School girls lacrosse team beat Morris Knolls in a high-scoring game.
The Gaels emerged the winners by a score of 13-9, thanks not only to the eight points scored by Karnitsky and Koepfler but also to a 3-goal outing by Mia Sadowski and to efforts by Hanna Bhend and Kendall Torpin, who each scored single goals.
Roxbury goaltender Natalie Shulkowski did her part by making 10 saves.
Coach Kevin Bewalder, on Twitter, acknowledged the fight put up by Morris Knolls, a team that beat Roxbury 8-7 in overtime last year. “Never easy vs Knolls, but solid effort on both sides of ball,” tweeted the coach after the Saturday victory.
The Gaels next play Morristown at home on Tuesday.
