ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School girls soccer team this week won its first 2020 state tournament game and will try to keep going in the tournament with competition on Wednesday.

Playing at home Monday, the six-seeded, 8-1-4 Gaels defeated Morris Hills 1-0 in the contest, the first round of the tournament. Morris Hills, 1-9-1, was the 11th seed.

Roxbury's goal was scored by freshman Juliana Osterman in the second half. Senior goaltender Emily Honig helped the Gaels' effort by making two saves while her Morris Hills counterpart, Abby Polito, successfully blocked 11 Roxbury shots.

The Wednesday quarterfinals game will pit the Gaels against a much tougher team: Third-seeded Wayne Hills. The match-up is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Wayne.
