ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School girls soccer team came out victorious after a tough battle Friday against Mendham, winning 2-1 and pushing its season record to 10-2
It took double overtime for the Gaels to beat the Minutemen, a team that now has a 7-3-3 record and which beat Roxbury 1-0 in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals last week. The Gaels were the defending county champions.
During Friday's game, played at home in Succasunna, Roxbury's two goals were made by Ashleigh Sarafin and Julia Picciallo. Karly Forker made an assist as did Sarafin.
Gaels goalkeeper Sarah Olivero made five saves while her counter part from Mendham, Aubrey Egerter, prevented nine of Roxbury's shots from passing.
Roxbury is scheduled to play this afternoon against Morris Knolls.
