ROXBURY, NJ - Roxbury High School Senior Anna Kisatsky was recently nominated by high school Band Director and Music Teacher Jeffrey Conrad for the Mayo Performing Arts Center Music Student of the Month (MSOM).
She was an honoree for outstanding wind players along with 14 other students from area schools.
MSOM, a student recognition program in its 17th year, honors Morris County middle and high school students nominated by their music teachers, not only for their excellence as musicians but also for dedication, leadership, and commitment to their school community.
“Anna is not only Principal Flute of the Roxbury High School Wind Symphony, but she is also the drum major to both of Roxbury High School’s marching bands," Conrad said in his nomination letter. "Anna studies flute privately and is a leader in and out of the classroom. She is always prepared and always works her best. She is open and accepting of constructive criticism, and she is mature enough to use that feedback to improve upon her individual performance.”
Conrad noted that Kisastsky, whether playing in class, performing in a chamber recital or leading one of the marching bands from the podium, displayes confidence, enthusiasm and talent that are contagious. "Simply put, Anna is an asset to our band program and the Roxbury Band Program is a better place thanks to her dedication and effort,.” he added.
Selected students will be honored before a chosen performance where they receive recognition on stage and complimentary tickets to that evening’s MPAC show. This month’s recipients will be honored onOct. 20 at Sir James Galways afternoon performance.
