ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School ice hockey team lost today to its rival from Randolph, a defeat that brings the Gaels' record to 1-1.
The Rams came out strong, finding the net twice in the first period while Roxbury came up empty. Although the Gaels scored two in the middle period, Randolph scored double that number. The teams entered the final period with Randolph leading 6-2, which ended up being the final score as neither team pushed a puck across the goal in the third period.
Roxbury's two goals were made by Shane Miller who was assisted by Kyle Jenkins and Nicholas Hefferle.
Gaels goalie Tyler Marston made 32 saves during the contest. His counterpart from Randolph, Scott Kimiecik, had a much easier game: He was forced to make only 17 save attempts, finding himself successful 15 times.
Roxbury gets a chance at returning to the win column on Friday when it plays Chatham at 5:45 p.m. at Mennen Sports Arena.
