ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School ice hockey team's troubles continued Friday with a loss to Madison.
The 5-2 defeat brought the Gaels' record to 1-4. The team's only victory was its first game, a 9-3 trouncing of Mendham on Nov. 25.
Madison came out strong in Friday's contest, racking up three goals in the first period. Although Roxbury fought back in the next two periods - scoring a goal in each - the Dodgers met that offense by also scoring goals in both the second and third sessions.
Roxbury's first goal was made by Shane Miller. Its other, with under a minute remaining in the game, was scored by Nick Thomas with assists by Miller and Brendan Hartos.
The Gaels' goaltender, Tyler Marston, made 45 saves out of 50 save attempts. He was kept a lot busier than Madison goalie Matt Ubertaccio, who made 18 saves on 20 save attempts.
Roxbury next plays on Dec. 15 against Freehold Borough at 8:15 p.m. at Aspen Ice in Randolph.
