ROXBURY, NJ - You could try Craigslist to get rid of those old books that are cluttering your house. You can try e-Bay or set up a card table on your front yard.
But here's what might be a better idea: Donate them to the Roxbury Public Library and get a tax write-off.
The Friends of the Roxbury Township Public Library will be sponsoring a fall book sale from Sept. 6 through Sept. 9 and the group is looking for raw materials. Your stuff could be fodder for their fundraiser.
Donations of hardcover, paperback and textbooks in good condition, DVDs, CDs and books-on-tape are being accepted at the library from Aug. 21 to Aug. 29. "Tax receipts are available," noted the library.
It also stressed that magazines, Reader’s Digest condensed books or encyclopedias will not be accepted.
The Friends group is also looking for volunteers to help set up the room, sort books and help pack books for donation on the last day of the sale. Those wishing to help can email them at FriendRoxburyLib@gmail.com
