ROXBURY, NJ - A town full of community events is getting another in October: A run in Succasunna that will include stops at different "fitness stations."
The Oct. 16 event, announced this week by the school district, is being called the inaugural "FitnessRox Family Fun Run." It will take place at Lincoln/Roosevelt School at 34 North Hillside Ave.
"The course will kick off at Lincoln/Roosevelt School to celebrate Lincoln School’s 100th birthday," said an announcement from the district. It said the fitness stations will be situated between Franklin School and Lincoln/Roosevelt Schools including Meeker Street.
Money raised at the event will help the school district "continue its goal of providing health and wellness for its staff and students," the district said. "Particularly this year at Lincoln/Roosevelt School, the funds will go to help equip the new Wellness Room with yoga mats, resistance bands, etc. to promote lifelong fitness, mindfulness and wellness."
The event will cost $20 per individual and $50 for immediate family (up to seven people). People can register online at www.roxbury.org/FitnessRox. The first 500 registrations before Oct. 5 will receive a free reusable water bottle and FitnessRox T-shirt.
Participants can park at either Franklin Elementary School at 8 Meeker Street in Succasunna or in the Lincoln/Roosevelt School parking lots. Registration and check-in will open at 4 p.m. at Lincoln/Roosevelt School and the run will begin at 5 p.m. The event is open to everyone, said the district.
"Roxbury Township Public Schools are preparing the children of today for tomorrow by helping them to grow strong in minds and bodies," said the announcement. "As a Bronze certificated Sustainable Jersey for School district, it is our goal to increase awareness and participation in health and wellness programs that not only benefit our students and staff but our community as a whole."
