ROXBURY, NJ – Landon Monro, a 14-year-old Succaunna baseball fan, is looking for baseball players and sponsors for this year’s version of a tournament he created three years ago to raise money for cancer research.
The 2016 version of the Landon Monro Tournament will take place June 5 at the Righter Road baseball fields in Succasunna. The rain date is June 12.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the non-profit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) organization. Last year’s event had about 70 youth players plus an adult game with 16 players. It raised nearly $4,600 for SU2C, which gives grants to innovative cancer researchers and projects.
“Last year’s event was an enormous success,” said Monro in an email. “I’m looking forward to another successful year.”
It will cost $22 per player for those who want to participate. Monro is gladly accepting donations as well.
