ROXBURY, NJ – Having trounced its rivals - and neighbors – Saturday by handily defeating Randolph in a Morris County Tournament quarterfinal match, the Roxbury High School girls volleyball team has its sight set on Morris Knolls in the tournament semifinals.
But before the Gaels can work their magic over Knolls, they must gear up for a Wednesday match against Parsippany Hills and a Thursday battle against West Morris Central. If the team, now 14-4, performs during the weekday games in a fashion similar to that shown against Randolph, it will face the next county tournament round feeling nearly unstoppable.
Against Randolph, Lauren Kornmann managed 10 kills and three aces. Setter Kate Shirkey weighed in with 14 service points, two aces and 22 assists. Joelle Marston also made a big impact with her nine kills.
A third game wasn’t needed as Roxbury smashed Randolph 23-11 in the first game and 23-13 in the second.
