CHESTER, NJ – In its fifth loss of the season, the Roxbury High School girls volleyball team was defeated Thursday by West Morris Central.
The 25-22 and 25-9 losses by the Gaels allowed the Chester school to win the NJAC National Division crown. Roxbury is now 15-5 for the season and 5-2 in National Division games.
None of the Gaels managed to score an ace during the games, but Lauren Kommann generated five service points, five kills and five blocks. Andie Ackerman had two service points as did Haley Cook. Kassandra Matiz had one. Kate Shirkey racked up 11 assists, a block and five digs.
Danielle Wohning of the Wolfpack managed 10 service points, three aces, three kills, four digs and one block during the contests.
The Gaels next play 5 p.m. Saturday in a Morris County Tournament match against Morris Knolls at Randolph High School.
