ROXBURY, NJ - Roxbury High School Juniors Lizvette Pappaterra and Naviya Verghese were recently selected by the Roxbury Woman’s Club to get a taste of college life and explore their career options.

The students were chosen by the club to attend the annual Girls Career Institute (GCI) at Rutgers Douglass Residential College in New Brunswick June 4 through June 7. They were chosen due to their interest, community service and participation in school activities.

The Roxbury delegates are joining other young women from throughout the state including 23 sponsored by clubs located in the New Jersey State Federation of Woman’s Clubs (NSJFWC) Highlands District, which makes up most of Morris County and parts of Sussex and Warren counties.

The 4-day event, sponsored by the NJSFWC, offers high school juniors a ‘mini-college’ experience where they live in dorm rooms, attend presentations and workshops, explore women’s issues and career options, take part in a service project and meet other young women with similar goals.
