Roxbury's Sembrat is Morris County Champion in Track

ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School track team had a great showing at the North 1, Group 3 State Sectional Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River, an event where junior Kevin Sembrat won the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.71.

The boys 4x400 relay team of Sembrat, senior Tyshon Bradley, senior Victor Arias and junior Brandon Longtine placed first and won the State Sectional Championship with a time of 3:30.

Both Sembrat and the relay team won their races in convincing fashion.

The girls team also had an impressive competition with six individual athletes earning medals.

Junior Karly Forker placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23. Sophomore Julia Herraiz placed third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:20. Sophomore Aaliyah Goldberry placed third in the 55-meter hurdles and fifth in the 55-meter dash with times of 9.15 and 7.70.

Junior Kim Carter placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 31’8.75”. Junior Jess Cammarata and senior Lexi Smith placed fifth and sixth in the 400-meter dash with times of 61.37 and 61.39.

The girls’ 4x400 meter relay team of Smith, Forker, Cammarata and sophomore Bridget Doherty placed second with a time of 4:05.

All 12 athletes will compete in this weekend’s NJSIAA Group 3 Championships with an opportunity to earn a spot in the New Jersey Meet of Champions.
