ROXBURY, NJ - (Updated 3 p.m.) Authorities were forced to shut down Route 206 in Roxbury for several hours Tuesday when a school bus from Green Brook caught fire as it was headed to a bus repair shop in Mt. Olive.
Nobody was injured and nothing was suspicious about the incident, said Roxbury Police Spokeswoman Jennifer Dillard. She said the driver was the only person in the bus at the time.
"The bus was on its way to Hoover Bus Repair on Gold Mine Road," Dillard said. "The driver heard a pop and the bus then lost power. A short time later, the fire developed in the engine."
The 10 a.m. fire took place near The Market Place on Route 206 North. It forced the closure of Route 206 in the area for several hours.
