ROXBURY, NJ –The common knowledge: Boy Scouts are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

The unspoken knowledge: Boy Scouts are hungry. Put a hot pizza in front of  them and see what happens.

To see this proven, come June 9 to the Franklin Elementary School on Meeker Road in Succasunna at 7:30 p.m. At that time, Roxbury Boy Scout Troop 163 will be hosting an informational meeting about Scouting, a meeting that will include free pizza.

The goal of the 90-minute meeting isn’t to demonstrate the way a group of Boy Scouts can make a pizza disappear. It’s to show prospective boys all the other cool things they could be doing if they joined:

  • Camping
  • Rafting
  • Rock Climbing
  • Skiing & Snowboarding
  • Hiking
  • Fishing
  • Canoeing
  • Sailing
  • Campfire
  • Ziplines
  • Archery
  • Riflery
  • Friendship
  • Trips

All those fun things, and occasional slices with pepperoni, are available to boys 11 years old (or completing 5th Grade) and under 18.

Due to the eating ability of boys in this demographic, the  scoutmaster asks that anybody planning to attend the meeting let them know, by emailing, so he can attempt to order enough  pizza.
