ROXBURY, NJ - “We had fun!” and “When is the next one?” are just a few of the comments from the volunteers who participated in Roxbury's first annual Litter Clean-Up Day this past Saturday.

The clean-up was a huge success thanks to approximately 85 volunteers, including several high school clubs and scout troops, who took to the streets and cleaned up specific areas of litter and debris throughout town.

Eight locations were assigned including several township parks and highly traveled roadways.

The volunteers collected more than 60 bags of cans, bottles, and trash!  They also collected various other items such as tires, fencing, a computer, brake pads and old traffic cones.

Please keep in mind you don’t need to participate in an organized event to get involved in bettering our community. We have many beautification opportunities available such as our Adopt-A-Spot or Adopt-A-Road programs. Or you can simply take a walk through your neighborhood and collect roadway debris. That works too!  We can provide gloves and bags and pick up the items you’ve collected.

Our Roxbury Pride was definitely the theme for last week. Along with our own community litter clean-up; we were able to coordinate with the state Department of Corrections and the state Department of Transportation to provide a roadway clean-up along Route 46 and Route 10 resulting in 75 bags of trash removed from our community!

For more information, please contact Kellie Ann Keyes, Clean Communities Coordinator at 973-448-2053 or go to www.roxburynj.us/cleancommunities

Let’s do our part to keep ROXBURY clean and green!

Lacking Respect

As a parent of children who have attended Kennedy Elementary School in Succasunna starting in 2010, I am very disappointed that you chose to use Mr Eric Renfors  “No Shave November photos” to announce his resignation.
