ROXBURY, NJ – The 6-game winning wave that the Roxbury girls volleyball team rode after Monday’s win against Pope John crashed into the shore Tuesday with a 2-1 loss against Union Catholic.

The Gaels lost the match by slim margins in the second and third games of the contest, having beaten their opponents in the first frame. The team headed into the second game with a 25-17 victory in the first, but lost 25-23 in Round Two.

The deciding game went to Union Catholic 25-22, rendering the Gaels with their first loss of the season.

They’ll try to return to their winning ways on Saturday, Sept. 26 in tournament play that begins at 9 a.m. at Livingston High School.
