My name is Eric Pilkington. I am an entrepreneur, a technologist, and a Senior Principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a top management consulting firm. I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Rutgers University, where I currently chair the Rutgers Design Thinking program. I am a co-founder and active member of STEM Diversity at IBM, Girls in Tech, and Women Who Code. I have taught and guest lectured at MIT, Columbia, and Princeton University. And for the past 16 years, I have been tremendously active in my community. Now, I am running for the Board of Education in Roxbury Township.
Someone recently asked me, "With everything else going on, why would you do that?” The answer is simple: because there is a need.
While I am proud of the progress our schools have made in recent years, I think we can do more. As a leader, a technologist, a creative problem solver, as someone who has staked a career on transforming organizations, I bring an outside in perspective on ways to improve education, to advance new curriculums and methods for learning, and to establish creative and innovative ways to pay for them.
My motivations for running and promises to you are simple. I will:
- Engage all stakeholders in this great town in an honest discourse about educational policy and its cost
- Be a voice for all Roxbury residents; I will advocate for our students, teachers, administrators, and taxpayers
- Work tirelessly to improve education for all of our children and to explore new ways to contain cost
As a successful professional, a former Division I athlete, and a retired United States Marine, I'm someone knows the value of education, athletics, and vocation.
Lastly, I am independent. Unlike many other board members and my opponents, I am not tied to a faction or a voting block like CARE or TEAM. Importantly, I have no conflicts of interest and can negotiate all contract types.
It is for all of these reasons that I hope to earn your vote on Tuesday, November 7th.
