ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury Rotary Club hopes to get at least 300 people to sign up for an upcoming "virtual comedy night" fundraiser that will feature four comedians.
The online event is scheduled to take place Jan. 30 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will cost $50. The show will be carried over the ZOOM platform, with registration starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets, as well as options to donate to the Rotary Club's scholarship fund and to a food bank, can be accessed here.
Roxbury Rotarian Steve Alford said the "COVID-friendly way to raise money" is the idea of fellow club member Matt Calavano, a manager at TD Bank.
"With people still hesitant to venture outside, this is a great way to spend some time on a Saturday night," Alford said. "So many people and organizations still need support, so we need to keep coming up with unique ways to help them."
The show will include adult content and will feature comedian John Pizzi, who appeared on America's Got Talent and has opened for Jerry Vale, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, Joy Behar, Weird Al Yankovic, The Tramps, The Regents, Al Martino, Clint Holmes and others.
Pizzi's act is described as "a one man show of comedy, magic and ventriloquism."
Other performers on the bill include Randi Lupo and Matt Jenkins.
