ROXBURY, NJ - Seven members of the Roxbury High School Band program were among 450 students accepted recently into North Jersey School Music Association ensembles.
The Association held its annual Region 1 Band auditions on Jan. 4. The students competed to earn a seat in one of two honors bands, and the orchestra’s wind and percussion section.
The seven from Roxbury will participate in three rehearsals before putting on a concert at Parsippany Hills High School on Jan. 26 (bands), or at James Caldwell High School on Feb. 9 (orchestra).
Zach Solano earned the highest score of all auditioning tubas in northern New Jersey and will be performing with the Orchestra.
Nick Morris (mallets) will be performing with both the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
Jess Miller earned the principal trombone chair in the Symphonic Band.
Jon Fragale (baritone saxophone), Paulie Kemmerer (soprano saxophone), Christian Maroulis (clarinet) and Andrew Wilson (french horn) will also be performing with the Symphonic Band.
