ROXBURY, NJ - With the National Weather Service predicting snow and ice for Wednesday, the Roxbury School District announced tonight that schools will open two hours later than normal in the morning.

In a Facebook post, the district said it might alter that decision - presumably to close schools altogether - if the winter weather turns out to be worse than predicted.

As of Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service was calling for mixed precipitation from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday with snow accumulations of two to four inches and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch.

"Precipitation is expected to begin as snow late tonight and may become heavy at times during the morning commute on Wednesday," said the NWS. "Snow will change to a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain late in the morning and continue through the afternoon hours. Precipitation may transition to rain late in the afternoon and early evening, especially in the warmer valleys."
