ROXBURY, NJ - A Roxbury High School student was recently awarded a St. Therese Knights of Columbus scholarship earmarked for students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The Knights of Columbus/Arnold L. Giovannoli scholarship was awarded to student Joseph Millus at a June 19 ceremony. The scholarship's founder, Giovannoli, attended the ceremony and personally presented it to Millus.
Millus will be attending King's college in Wilkes Barre, Pa. He has been accepted into King's rigorous 3+2 program where he will study mechanical engineering for three years and then complete his last two years studying aeronautical engineering at Notre Dame.
Giovanelli, a graduate of NJIT, began the scholarship fund about five years ago because he wanted to encourage more students to enter the STEM fields which he felt were not growing.
Millus' mother, Lisa, ran for the Roxbury Board of Education in 2016.
