ROXBURY, NJ - Just in time for Thanksgiving, the Roxbury Rotary Club will be selling fruit and pies on Saturday (Nov. 17) as a club fundraiser.
The Rotarians will be in front of the Roxbury Recreation Center, at Horseshoe Lake Park, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year and the fruit and pies come in just in time for thanksgiving," said Roxbury Rotarian (and TAPinto Roxbury sponsor) Steve Alford. "The money raised at this event helps fund Social Services, the public library, Camp Merry Heart, high school scholarships as well as many other local and worldwide causes."
Alford said the club has already sold almost 800 cases of fruit and 170 pies this year. "We really need the community to come down and see what our club is all about and help make our fundraiser a success," he said. "We get our local high school Interact Club and Junior Rotary kids there to help, so it’s a really fun atmosphere."
He noted that Gary Ribe, a long time Rotarian and local realtor, "has run the event for the club the last few years and has really helped us help a lot of people in need." Alford said he, Ribe and their fellow Rotary Club members "really hope people will pull in and say hello. We also are looking for people to buy some pies and fruit that we can donate to Roxbury Social Services in their names so families in town can have them for Thanksgiving."
