MOUNT OLIVE, NJ - A baseball and softball training school in Flanders has announced a Columbus Day fundraiser to aid victims of the tragedy that struck Las Vegas on Oct. 1.
In The Zone Baseball & Softball Academy will be donating 50 percent of all lesson proceeds collected on Oct. 9 to the GoFundMe page set up by Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak.
“There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are,” said In The Zone President Marcus Ippolito. “Since many kids are off from school, I saw this as an opportunity to do our part. It’s a day when many more kids can come in for lessons since they may be home, so it just seemed like a way for us to not only motivate baseball & softball players to get some extra work in, but help those in need at the same time.”
To date, the tragedy has claimed 58 lives and more than 500 injured. The GoFundMe page has raised millions of dollars in just a few days, but considering how many families have been effected, every donation made is an important one, said Ippolito.
