ROXBURY, NJ - Roxbury Mayor Bob DeFillippo, Roxbury Police Chief Marc Palanchi and Roxbury Public Library Director Radwa Ali will moderate three sessions at the library this month designed to showcase local organizations that help others.

The "Now Serving Roxbury" evenings will take place on Oct. 21, Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

“There are many reasons to choose to live in Roxbury,” said DeFillippo. “Yet, one of our most outstanding qualities is how much our people care for each other and make our part of the world a better place.”

Designed to showcase local do-good organizations, "Now Serving Roxbury" will allow representatives of area not-for-profits share information about their good works, impact, missions and how neighbors can get involved.

The mayor will moderate the Oct. 23 session which will feature speakers from the Friends of Roxbury Public Library, Girl Scouts of the USA, Roxbury Chamber of Commerce and Woman’s Club of Roxbury.

At the Oct. 21 session, Ali will moderate a panel of spokespeople from the Art Association of Roxbury, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Roxbury Arts Alliance and Roxbury Rotary Club and Interact Club.

On Oct. 22, Palanchi will welcome representatives from Daughters of the American Revolution-Ferro Monte Chapter, Roxbury Community Garden, Roxbury Fire and First Aid and Roxbury Social Services.

“Think of it like a walking, talking civic fair,” said Ali. “We’re hoping and expecting the representatives from all the organizations to come get us fired-up about what they bring to the community. It’s a chance for them to go a little deeper about the inspiring things they accomplish in our town, and how we all might like to get more involved.  Even if you’ve lived here all your life, we’re sure you will learn something great about Roxbury that you didn’t already know”

The programs will be open to all. Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is recommended and can be accomplished by signing up online at roxburylibrary.org (under “events”) or by calling the library at 973-584-2400.
