Motorcycling Replacing "Weecycling" in Roxbury

Plans for The Cycle Exchange expansion

ROXBURY, NJ – When it comes to motorcycle shopping in Roxbury it's been a case of lose some, gain some.

On the losing side of the equation: The closure of Trebour Motorcycles, a multi-brand dealership that was on Route 46 in Ledgewood; the demise of Garden State BMW Motorcycles, which was in the building now housing Castle Printing; the shut-down of Legends Harley-Davidson farther west on the highway.

On the up side: The Cycle Exchange, a used motorcycle store at 1395 Route 46, is hoping to become bigger.

The Cycle Exchange owner Nolan Forlenza is renovating a 2,500-square-foot building adjacent to his company’s current 10,500-square-foot structure. The building being reworked was formerly occupied by the Weecycled Consignment Shop.

Plans call for using the building for additional showroom and vehicle preparation space for The Cycle Exchange, a proposal currently being handled by the Roxbury Township Board of Adjustment.

Forlenza is seeking variance relief and amended site plan approval. He wants to re-stripe the parking lot (to regulate 1-way traffic flow), erect new signs, create new doors and accesses to the building, install some new lighting, create handicap access and renovate the façade.

The plans also show that all traffic will enter and leave using the driveways in front of the main building. Nearly 1,300-square-feet of pavement currently in front of the former Weecycled store will be removed and the area bordering Route 46 will be "topsoiled, seeded and mulched." He is also asking the board to allow him to display and sell boats at the main building.

Construction crews are already at work inside the former Weecycle building, performing a complete interior renovation. "We're making it all new inside," Forlenza said.

Forlenza said he also wants to replace - with something larger and prettier - a dilapidated, small building he owns adjacent to his main store on east side. The building once housed a carpet or floorings business.

"We look forward to knocking that down," Forlenza said. "We want to beautify Route 46 there."

Private Schools Have Unfair Advantage in High School Sports

May 7, 2017

Dear Editor,

Yesterday's thrashing of the Roxbury Boys Lacrosse team at the hands of Delbarton was as unbalanced as the final score. A private school such as Delbarton can take students and athletes from all over New Jersey as well as from other states. Private schools are not bound by the same rules as public schools, unless you're Wayne Hills that is. But that's a story for ...

Roxbury Diner: Homespun Hospitality Through Thick and Thin

ROXBURY, NJ – Roxbury was being buried in snow March 14 and most businesses were closed. Not Roxbury Diner.

Roxbury Diner isn’t like most businesses. For co-owner Jimmy Dontas, a snowstorm – even a blizzard – isn’t a reason to suspend operations. Instead, it’s a call to action.
