MORRISTOWN, NJ - A Catholic high school teacher and volleyball coach engaged in sexual acts with two underage students over the course of about five years, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's office.

The man, Carlos Franco-Leon, 42, of Rockaway Township, engaged in the illegal behavior "on various occasions between 2015 and 2019" while he was working as a teacher and volleyball coach at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, said the authorities in a statement issued today.

Franco-Leon's employment with Morris Catholic ended in 2018, said the prosecutor's office. He is now a teacher and girls volleyball coach at Roselle Catholic High School according to his Linked-in profile and the Roselle Catholic website.

Franco-Leon faces six counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second degree sexual assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, said the prosecutor's office.

He was charged by warrant-complaint and is currently being held in the county jail pending a court appearance, according to the prosecutor's office. It asked anyone with information relating to Franco-Leon's activities to call the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office at 973-285-6200 or the Denville Police Department at 973-627-4900.

Morris County Prosecutor Frederic Knapp thanked the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the Denville Police Department "whose efforts contributed to the investigation of this matter."
